Facial Necessities
In this picture, I cropped different parts of the subjects face from different pictures and placed them in the mirrors they're holding. The meaning of this picture is to promote the recognition that what you see isn't what is always behind the scenes. The subject farthest to the left is looking down, has her hair covering her face and is holding a smile and an eye, symbolizing that what she lets you see is a smile and an alert eye but behind the mirror, she is tired and overcome with sadness and is barley holding her head up. The subject in the middle holds a nose and parted lips. The nose represents the held breath of a potentially expressed opinion, as does the slightly parted lips. Though they have plenty to say they keep to themselves. Lastly, the subject farthest to the right is holding an eye in place to her eye, showing that though this subject shows emotions that they are not feeling and keep to themselves they are always watching, observing.
The Only Rule
This picture I attempted to make the words in the subject's eyes stand out, the words that spell out "RULE". The use of the word rule symbolizes the suffocating amount of rules and standards in everyday life, it affects our views on everything we see and becomes the only thing we view the world based upon. We do so much that the color in our world starts to fade as do parts of our selves, we lose parts of us abiding by social norms.
Toy Box Friend
In this picture I attempted to make it seem like a nightmare straight out of a toy box that obviously lacking variety. The subject is wearing a woolly dolls wig as small baby hands are reaching toward her as if to pull her back into a dark demonic whole that they crawled out of.
